Your Author

My name is Allan. Most people call me Al, though my online name is alto. You can decide, I respond to all three! I'm a thirty something, just turned 40 y/o gay male, a Myers Briggs ENFP, have been described as an outdoors and active type, living on the eternal ski hill otherwise known as Canada; land of hockey, beer, and overly clear articulation.

Currently in what I refer to as a career transition phase, I am a critical care flight paramedic, completing having just completed my MFA in creative writing and modern literature. I am also a part time faculty member (non tenured instructor) of a local university and teach a first year course on the history of minority representation in modern literature.

After thesis work and a successful first publication, I hope to become a rich, pontificating and hopelessly self involved author, sharing the couch with Oprah. I suppose being happy doing what I love, writing and teaching socially relevant literature, would be okay too.

The picture above, below, or where the hell ever picture (what can I say I change the layout often) is of myself and my dog Singher. She is a six seven year old Dalmatian & Black Lab cross, which my late partner and I adopted from a rescue shelter in 2002. Loyal and lovable, she is, depending on ones perspective, eccentric...or perhaps deeply insane. What that more than likely says about me, I'm well aware.

This would be my space in the world for original thoughts that make it to paper and pen (or computer / keyboard if we need to get technical about it). When the burst of ambition hits with enough force, this will also be the site for some original creative works.

As if that wasn't enough. For more information about myself and the site beyond this page, you may want to check out the following.
